Release Negative Thought or Behaviour Patterns

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie? I don’t think so………..

Every moment of every waking day the human psyche is subjected to a barrage of information. We are constantly making split second decisions as to whether we can ‘cope’ with that information. Whether we  retain it at a conscious level or ( in that split second),  prefer not to think about it at all. A lot of our decisions is determined by the type of person we are (unique of course!) and our experience and perception of life to date.

If the emotion felt at the time is strong enough, we may choose to deny its very existence!  A good example of this would be the car crash victim who on recounting his version of events may well say something like “I don’t know what happened really, it all seems a bit of a blur. I can remember being helped into the ambulance afterwards and I can remember exactly what watch was worn by one of the ambulance men but after I started skidding I don’t know what happened.” It would be a reasonable assumption to make, that the fear generated when events became out of their control, was strong enough to effectively remove all conscious thought. The conscious part of our psyche will only tolerate a level of emotion it feels comfortable handling. Therefore our road accident victim remembers all the parts where some sort of order was restored to the situation e.g. the ambulance men taking care of him. But what of the emotion experienced during the terrifying moments when he can remember nothing? That emotion may well be locked away in the subconscious.

A repression (that which is locked away from our conscious mind) will ALWAYS produce a symptom. And by that I mean the very problem you have brought to the Hypnoanalyst!   The sleeping dog isn’t sleeping at all. He’s lying there snapping and snarling and waiting to be let out of the cage!
